New York Dog

His eyes they crumble from the dust and the daze

He fetches his coat, his permanent ways

And as another morning slips, he slides through the fog

And crawls through the city like a New York dog

Slumped in his climate, oh what a habit from hell

He’s older now with no past to tell

Acknowledged by his peers with the same idle grin

This New York dog just needs a little pull of sin

Say it now you’re running round believing

This is all you got and now you’ve given up

I mean it when I say

That I’m dazed by you

I’m dazed by you

I’ve been thinking about you now, I’ve been thinking about you

I’ve been thinking about you now, I’ve been thinking about you

“If you’re so unhappy why don’t you say? How am I supposed to know if you never tell me? I’m not living the fucking high life either you know. Honey why don’t we talk? We used to be great. Now you can’t even look at me. I feel responsible for you being miserable. What have I done?”
